Green Mojito Smoothie

It’s summer in Austin, and you know what that means – it’s hot! There’s nothing better than taking a dip at Deep Eddy, Barton Springs, or Hamilton Pool to beat our Central Texas heat. While you’re at it, try cooling off and unwinding with this healthy and refreshing green smoothie!

Green Mojito Smoothie

(makes 2)


• 2 cups crushed ice
• 1 cup coconut water
• 1 banana
• 1/2 avocado
• handful of spinach
• 1 cup of frozen pineapple
• juice of 1 small lime
• 5 fresh mint leaves
• raw honey to taste


Simply add all ingredients to blender, then blend up and enjoy!

Coconut water:
Coconut water is very hydrating and a great source of electrolytes.
Bananas are a great source of vitamin B6, vitamin C, potassium, and manganese.
Avocados are a great source of healthy, monounsaturated fat. They’re high in fiber, B-vitamins, folic acid and potassium. A 2005 study found that adding avocado to your salad increases your absorption of carotenoid antioxidants.
Greens are amazing. Not only are they incredibly nutrient dense, but new research suggests that they help combat food allergies and inflammatory diseases. They also protect you from cancer and aid in maintaining a healthy intestinal balance by promoting the proliferation of beneficial bacteria.
The pineapple is a remarkable fruit. It contains bromelian, an anti-inflammatory enzyme that aids in digestion, as well as vitamin C, vitamin B6, and potassium.
Studies show that mint is an excellent digestive aid. It contains high levels of antioxidants, as well as other minerals such as iron, calcium, and magnesium.
Limes not only contain high levels of vitamin C, but they are also full of limonoids, compounds that have been shown to combat lung cancer, oral cancer, skin cancer, and breast cancer.
