How to Have a Local Austin Super Bowl Party

For Austinites, the name of any game starts local. We’ve rounded up our recommendations for the best in local pick-up party fare, so you can start making those game-day orders for the big game.

Skull and Cakebones Cupcakes

Dessert first. For all you vegan football lovers, Skull and Cakebones are hooking you up with some special treats for the big day. For a half time pick-me-up, try their Cafe Cuveé, a coffee cake, topped with coffee frosting and finished with a dusted Cuvee Coffee star. You can find them at many locations in Austin, or make a special order online.

Easy Tiger Pretzel Buns

The best vessels for your gameday dogs are pretzel buns from Easy Tiger. Place your order by 3pm the day before to give a big upgrade to your standard sausages or bratwursts.

El Chilito Taco’s

El Chilito makes it super easy to make large orders for your gameday needs. Everything can be done online under “large orders,” just make sure to allow 48 hours. Their taco offerings are many, like the Cascabel Pork (pork shoulder stewed in cascabel chile salsa with nopales), Rajas de Hongo (mushrooms, roasted poblanos & onions, queso fresco, avocado) and Tinga de Pollo (braised chicken in a chipotle tomato sauce, served with lettuce and pico). Oh, and don’t forget about the puffy tacos.

Two Locations:

• 2219 Manor Rd. @ Chestnut Austin, Tx 78722

Smoked Bob Armstrong Queso at Matt’s El Rancho

Of all the great queso in Austin, Matt’s has been proven to be one of the most beloved. The Bob Armstrong dip has it all – classic queso with enough viscosity to suspend the bonuses: simple guacamole and their famous 20-minute taco meat. What you may not know is that there is a special, “Smoked Bob” (off the menu) that includes juicy smoked brisket in lieu of the taco crumbles. Pick up a giant bag of their perfect house-made tortilla chips with it and go ahead and grab a frozen marg to pre-game while you wait.

Email orders to including 12-piece Wood-Grilled Wings with a sweet arbor chili glaze served with jicama, carrots, and celery, and 10-piece Jalapeño Poppers created with jalapeños, cream cheese, pepper jack, and bacon. There’s even a 7-Layer Dip & Chips made with pico de gallo, pepper jack, street corn, guacamole, fire-roasted salsa, sour cream, and refried charro beans on their special Super Bowl menu.

Crispy Wings and BBQ at Freedmens Bar

In addition to their regular menu, pitmaster Evan Leroy will be smoking crispy hot wings for the Super Bowl. We highly recommend coming in for a Holy Mary before you pick up your order. What’s that? A quart of Forty Creek, macerated house-smoked tomatoes, lime juice, and worchestershire, all topped off with the Texas Trinity of a half pound Brisket, Sausage, and Spare Ribs.

Charcuterie board from Salt & Time

Anything you get from Salt & Time is appropriate to enjoy at anytime, but we’re gifting our Super Bowl with a charcuterie board built from their case of meats. Don’t miss the Coffee Lomo, their specialty cured pork loin with Cuvee Coffee

Chilantro’s Super Bowl Take Out Feast

Beloved Korean BBQ trailer Chilantro opened its first brick and mortar on S. Lamar just last month. They certainly hit the ground running with a rockstar menu AND they made a special take-out feast available for Superbowl Sunday. Among our favorites: Kimchi Fried Rice Balls with Magic Sauce, Ginger Guacamole, Honey Kissed K-pops and Kimchi Fry Wedges.
