Seafood lovers, meet your newest dining destination. The long-anticipated Mongers Market + Kitchen is finally here to prove to skeptics that you can, in fact, get fresh seafood in central Texas. Gulf fishmonger Roberto San Miguel partnered with former Kenichi chef Shane Stark to open the restaurant-market venture, which specializes in bringing “super-deluxe, ultra-fresh” deep-water Gulf species, boat-to-table. Founder of San Miguel Seafood, Roberto is extremely dedicated to bringing his fishing passion to Austin restaurants. Before opening Mongers, some notable Austin restaurants supported his business, including Wink, Elizabeth St., Peché, and Lenoire.
Just off Cesar Chavez, the restaurant adopted an aquatic design, furnished with white-washed wood walls, boat ropes hanging from the ceiling, and simplistically-chic serving dishes. Sit down for a casual lunch or dinner in house or grab fresh seafood by the pound from their market, which will fill all your shrimp, yellowfin, and amberjack desires.
