We’re big fans of the entrepreneurial spirit here at Citygram. So we were excited to meet Jen Lewis, owner/director of Purse & Clutch last weekend. Taking the term “pop-up shop” to a new extreme, Jen Lewis’ offering of handmade and fair-trade bags and wallets will be filling a complete retail space on 2nd St. for the holidays (through December 23rd).
Inspired by her travels to Guatemala, Honduras, and Bolivia (among others), Jen hopes to promote social progress with the living-wage opportunities she provides artisans in developing countries. “It’s amazing to see how much these women give back into their community,” says Jen.
As director, Jen’s mission is to stock high quality, handmade organic accessories and textiles that appeal to Austin’s style sense and modern-day needs (such as totes that can accommodate laptops or iPads).
Purse & Clutch… will be filling a complete retail space on 2nd St. through December 23rd.
Next time you’re in the 2nd St. District stop in this little shop around the corner and perhaps even meet Jen yourself. There’s always an incoming stream of new merchandise, and you just may find the perfect holiday gift you’ve been looking for.
