Southern rock sensations, Drive by Truckers, will celebrate the release of its new album, English Oceans with a free show at Waterloo Records this Thursday. The event will be hosted by KDRP 100.1 FM and Austin Beerworks and kicks off at 5PM.

Austin Psych Fest was originally founded as a small, independent event held in a barn that attendees had trouble finding. Since 2008 it’s grown to a 3-day camping and music festival held at Carson Creek Ranch. This year’s headliners include: The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Loop, the Dandy Warhols, Panda Bear and the Black Angels.

This 36th annual event is Austin’s oldest and largest art festival, featuring nearly 300 local and national artisans, performances from 60 bands and family fun. This free festival raises money for many local charities, taking place in Austin’s historic 6th Street District.

This weekend’s grand opening party will feature storytime for the kids, several live music performances, food carts, and a garden discovery quest. Guests can explore a maze made of shrubs, a grotto with caves and a waterfall, and a Fibonacci spiral at this new garden inside the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower center.

Elixir of Love is a romantic comedy full of beautiful duets and plot twists. A first time performance for the Austin Lyric Opera, the cast will sing this original opera by Gaetano Donizetti in Italian, with English subtitles displayed as well. Purchase a ticket for opening night, May 1 and receive $10 off any seat in the house.
Austin’s popular Cinco de Mayo block party will take over West 2nd Street, from Guadalupe to San Antonio for this sixth annual event. Get your fill of tacos, Mexican street corn, margaritas, Mexican beer and other vendors. Performing musicians include: Este Vato, Bombasta, DJ Chicken George and Chorizo Funk, Celsius, Vitera, and more.
