June 4

PechaKucha

FREE

PechaKucha is a simple presentation format from Japan that where presenters show and speak to 20 images, each for 20 seconds. The event will take place on the rooftop of the Contemporary Austin with ten artists, architects, and business owners including Tito Beveridge of Tito’s Vodka.


June 4

KGSR’s Blues on the Green

FREE

Don’t miss the first Blues on the Green of the season, featuring Saints of Valory with special guests, Wild Child. Bring your friends, kids, dogs and picnics for this free music event, starting at 8pm.


June 5

Chevy Shop Social Fundraiser

FREE

Citygram Founder and Editor, Chris Perez, will be one of 18 Austin influencers to get a brand new Chevy to drive and a gift card worth $300 to spend at local merchants. The items purchased will become raffle prizes to benefit two local charitable organizations: Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) and I Live Here I Give Here. KGSR’s Unplugged at the Grove with Shakey Graves

Grab your blanket or chairs and head over to the Grove on Barton Springs Road for a concert by Austin favorite Shakey Graves. The music is free, and ZiegenBock drafts are only $3.50 at this KGSR sponsored event. The music starts at 8, but get there early to get a seat.

June 5-8

X Games Austin

Weekend wristband: $89

Austin is the lucky host to the X Games this year, which will showcase some of the world’s best skateboarding, BMX, Moto X and Rally X at the Circuit of the Americas. X Music will take place at Austin 360 Amphitheater, with a world class lineup that includes Pretty Lights, Kanye West and the Flaming Lips as well as several local artists. Don’t miss the X Games Kickoff Bash Wednesday night at the Belmont, with live music from G. Love and Zeale, a silent auction, raffle, drinks and several X Games athletes in attendance. Also, Thursday night at 5pm Tony Hawk will hosting an X Games opening party in front of the Capitol building with fellow BMX and skateboarding competitors. A vert competition will run from 6:30pm-9pm and a music performance by Holy Ghost at 10pm will close the festivities.


June 6-7

Austin Civic Orchestra- That 70’s Concert

The Austin Civic Orchestra will perform its annual pops concert at Zilker Park’s Hillside Theater Friday and Saturday. The musical selections will be popular 70s tunes, from Led Zeppelin to Saturday Night Fever and Barry Manilow. The concert is free and begins at 8pm both nights.


June 7

Boardwalk Grand Opening

The long awaited Boardwalk that will complete the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake opens this Saturday. The grand opening celebration will begin at 10am with a ribbon cutting ceremony,live music by the SoundWaves, a march led by the Eastside Panther Drumline, and an aerial dance performance under I-35 by Blue Lapis Light at 11:45am.


June 8

The 18th Austin Cool Home Tour

$20

Take a self-guided tour of 11 energy efficient Austin homes. Pick up a guidebook at Treehouse or Zinger Hardware for $20 to gain admission into the homes. A limited number of guidebooks will be available at the homes as well.


June 8

Bikes and Brews Pop-Up Pig Roast

FREE

This free pop-up pig roast hosted by TRACE, Windmill Bicycles and Fine Southern Gentlemen will have tacos, beer, music by DJ Wannabeher, games, prizes and merchandise. Beer sales will benefit the Ghisallo Foundation.

June 11

Blues on the Green

FREE

Blues on the Green is back for the summer every other Wednesday at Zilker Park. It’s totally free and you can bring your own food, drinks and dogs. This week features the Heartless Bastards with Dana Falconberry.
