Rooftop party at W Hotel


The W Hotel is opening up the WET Deck (usually reserved for hotel guests) to give locals a chance to escape the heat and wind down poolside. Enjoy $6 drink specials, and show up early for passed bites from TRACE. Citygram will be hosting this month’s SHOP LOCAL feature J. Hannah Co. – who will be providing demos of her natural perfume workshop. And Langford Market will have a pop-up trunk show with gift card giveaways. Shooter Jennings with Waymore’s Outlaws


Singer-songwriter Shooter Jennings will perform at the Historic Scoot Inn with Waymore’s Outlaws Friday. Shooter, the son of the legendary country musician, Waylon Jennings, will play songs from his new EP honoring George Jones.

Creative Mornings ATX with Andy Crouch


In this week’s Creative Mornings ATX, local improv guru Andy Crouch will lead a talk on the intersection of creativity and failure. Crouch currently serves as the Director of Education at the Hideout Theatre. The event will take place at Bass Concert Hall in the Texas Performing Arts Scenic Studio. Register here for tickets.

Bat Fest 2014

$10/FREE for kids 8 and under

Celebrate Austin’s 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats at Bat Fest 2014, where you can browse 75 craft and art vendors, hear live music on three different stages, keep the kids busy with activities, eat, drink and indulge in bat activities galore (including a bat costume contest). Fluff Bake Bar

The delightful, Fluff Bake Bar of Houston is back this Sunday at Foreign & Domestic for a kolache pop-up!  You’ll find kolaches you’ve never had before, filled with Salt & Time breakfast sausage, cherry & Thai basil, spinach & artichoke, and apple & miso butterscotch. The sale opens at 9am so get there early before they sell out!

August 24

Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival


If you love hot things, you won’t want to miss the Austin Chronicle’s annual Hot Sauce Festival. Head to Fiesta Gardens Sunday to try dozens of hot sauces and salsas from near and far. LaTasha Lee and the BlackTies, El Tule, Gumbo Ce Soir, and Rosie and the Ramblers will keep you entertained with music throughout the day. Food vendors will include: Austin’s Pizza, Curra’s Grill, El Pollo Rico, PoK-e-Jo’s, Papuoli’s Greek Grill, Torchy’s Tacos, Sun Garden Shaved Ice, and Amy’s Ice Cream. Don’t forget to bring a food item for donation to the Capital Area Food Bank for admission. Bring a bag of chips to sample the sauces and plenty of water to put out the fire in your mouth.
