Your weekend itinerary is here. For the week of July 3-9, Citygram recommends:
Let the Austin Symphony Orchestra entertain you this 4th of July at the Circuit of the America’s Austin 360 Amphitheatre. Join thousands of central Texans for one of the largest 4th of July celebrations in the state, complete with a fireworks display and live patriotic classics. The celebration may have moved this year from its regular venue – as Auditorium Shores undergoes renovations – but it will still be free and open to the public! The symphony will begin at 8:30pm, with fireworks to start at 9:30pm.
Party with craft brews while supporting a good cause this 4th of July. Hops & Grain will donate 25 percent of its proceeds from the event to 1400 Miles, an organization that helps raise awareness for prostate cancer prevention. Get your tickets here.
512 Festival at the Backyard
Headliners, Ben Kweller, Charlie Mars, Grupo Fantasma, Whiskey Shivers and many more will perform at this two-day festival, complete with artisans, face painting and food trucks. Festival sponsor, 512 Brewing Company, will be celebrating its summer beer launch, with all of its beers available at the Backyard.
The Tesla Project is shaping up to be the family-friendly event of the weekend. The day-long celebration of Nikola Tesla will benefit Girlstart and includes activities such as a Tesla inspired art show, robotics gallery, a workshop to make your own Tesla coil, a costume contest, and much more. The event runs from 2pm – 10pm and the full schedule of events can be seen here. Click here to RSVP via Facebook.
Cinema East is a summer movie series, featuring premier independent films on an outdoor screen at the French Legation Museum. This Sunday, catch “Joy Kevin” (writer and director, Caleb Johnson), beginning at 9pm. The event is BYOB, dog and kid friendly. Tickets are $2-5 on a sliding scale and can be purchased at the door.
Every Tuesday in July from 5pm-midnight, the Courtyard at Hotel San Jose on South Congress will feature the Hanalei – a cocktail of guava, orange blossom, lime and sake. Sip one (or a couple) while you kick back to some live music by surf rock band, the Avocados.
Don’t miss Blues on the Green this week at Zilker Park, featuring Grupo Fantasma with Greyhounds. Music starts at 8pm; and don’t forget your snacks, drinks, dogs and lawn chairs!
