Amplify Austin Day

Every year, Austin’s “I Live Here, I Give Here” hosts a day of online giving to benefit over 500 of the amazing nonprofits that call Austin home. For 24 hours, between 6pm on March 5 and 6pm on March 6, their goal is to raise $7 Million. Beneficiaries are those designed to help end poverty, ensure quality education and more. Follow the hashtag #amplifyATX and scour Facebook  pop-up parties and special events that will be encouraging the giving spirit this weekend.

Reckless Kelly Loungeside at Strangebrew Coffee

Texas Country legend Reckless Kelly will be performing loungeside this Friday at Strangebrew coffee. Click above for a preview of their Texas sound. Stangebrew’s Loungeside series features intimate live performances 7 nights/week, serving local beers, wine and crafted coffee drinks.

Open at Canopy

Open Canopy is a free monthly open house at the Canopy creative arts complex on the first Saturday of each month. Studios and galleries welcome the public to view current exhibitions and studio work on the first Saturday of each month 12 – 6pm. This event showcases the diverse talent of local artists in East Austin.

Sour Bridges at Lambert’s

Wash down some of Austin’s best BBQ with an intimate show with our friends, Sour Bridges. They will be rocking the stage at Lambert’s on Saturday with their unique folk-rock sound. These guys have an energy to fire you up, though they are likely to get down  on the dance floor with you, too.

Austin Under 40 Awards

The annual Austin Under 40 Awards has been around for almost 20 years, and aims to recognize Austin men and women under the age of 40 who have achieved extraordinary professional success while simultaneously demonstrating outstanding community service.Honoring the incredible people who make Austin the cultural spectacular it is. Go for the drinks, the food, connections and stories. Hopefully you’ll make friends with some of the nominees, like our friend Matt Swinney (pictured here), who runs Fashion X, Austin’s source for all things fashion and style. The event supports Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps and the Young Women’s Alliance Foundation, helping send at-risk youth to summer camp, educational scholarships for women and more.

Lustre Pearl Crawfish Boil at Clive Bar

Clive Bar is celebrating the reopening of their former neighbor, Lustre Pearl, with a crawfish boil! You may remember that Lustre Pearl, the first bar on Rainey, was lifted off its foundation last year to make way for new developments. The building now rests on East Cesar Chavez, where it will open later this year. In honor of their rebirth, and to kick off SXSW, Clive bar will be offering $15 plates of crawfish, corn, potatoes and sausage!
