Watch the Putas del Fuego take on the Rhinestone Cowgirls in the TXRD roller derby league’s annual championship game. But first, read Citygram’s feature, Built, Not Born, in this month’s REFLECT issue and get to know the Putas’ captain, Cora Zone, as well a glimpse into what makes the league tick. Get tickets here.
The Texas Book Festival this Saturday and Sunday includes hundreds of author sessions and panels, plus two days of live music, children’s activities, and cooking demonstrations,

Live music, quality beer, and an entire feast prepared by the chefs of Banger’s? Sounds like your Saturday was just booked. This Saturday will feature live music from Jeremy Steding and the Rebellion, The Gents, and Sam Pace. Two lambs from Yonderway Farms will cooked over an open fire on a spit, served over water squash and sweet potato with grilled kale, tossed with pomegranate seeds, lemon and balsamic.
The inaugural celebration of all bikes in Austin will be the perfect place to spend a day with family and friends. True to Austin form, the event will feature live music and food trailers, but wait- there’s more. The event will also feature a halloween costume contest, Texas made microbrews from local breweries, and an inaugural ride down the newly paved Southern Walnut Creek Trail.
Drink.well and Jester King Brewery will host a dinner to kick off Austin’s craft beer week. A six course pairing, led by Jester King Co-Owner and Brewer, Ron Extract, will showcase curated selections from the Jester King’s portfolio, including a few rare and “not yet released” bottlings.
Continuing its series of their favorite Music-Themed Classics, Scoot-Inn will host a screening of Spinal Tap. In celebration of this being the last screening in the series, and with Halloween being right around the corner, costumes are highly encouraged.
