The Best Friends Animal Society is back for its third annual Strut Your Mutt, a leisurely walk with your four legged friends that helps raise money for homeless pets in Austin and around the country. Kings of Leon are making a stop in Austin on their Mechanical Bull Tour (Todd Sanders made the neon sign featured on the album cover), with opening acts, Young the Giant and Kongos. See the show from the lawn at Austin 360 Amphitheater for under $30.
Celebrate National Peanut Day at Banger’s on Rainey Street with a special menu that includes a whole brined pig and sesame peanut cold pasta with coconut glazed pork. Banger’s will have live music all day long, with Bluegrass Outfit playing the first set starting at 11am. Boxcar Preachers will take the stage at 3:30, followed by Blues in the Night at 8 and The Cover Letter at 10:30.
Every Sunday at Uncle Billy’s on Barton Springs Road, local radio station KUTX will host a free live music series. This week, DJ Mixer Rogers will warm up the stage from 2-4pm. Jazz and blues extraordinaire Tameca Jones will bring her soulful touch to classic covers from 4-6.
Party at Austin’s new boardwalk this Wednesday from 6-9pm. The Austin Music Foundation is celebrating the opening of their new South Shore District headquarters with performances by Soul Track Mind, Gina Chavez, Riders Against the Storm, Quiet Company, John Pointer and Kalu James. Some of Austin’s favorite food trucks like Chilantro BBQ, East Side King, Garbo’s Lobster Truck, Burro Cheese Kitchen and more.
